dear Band Equity,
The section of BEst and BEkaar featured the colgate ad as "BEst".
However my opinion stands different with respect to your panel.
The advert nowhere implies promotion of "Colgate".The film shows father's concern of toothpaste reaching every part of the teeth.Thay have shown the toothpaste foam in liquid form reaches every part of the teeth and covers the teeth entirely, directing protection from all sides, however this is a property of the "liquid foam" and not colgate. If colgate can reach to all sides of the tooth, so can close up and forhans (remember the old time brand).
However, as you said the father-son chemistry did work to grab some innocence and thus the public attention. But are Colgate pioneers of the concept? Ever since the explosion of media in India, advertisers have exploited this concept to a good extent.sooner, the cute little kid in the kiddie voice promoting a band will be a question of monotony. we need something new to be a trend setter in the market. hence i go against the panel decision and vote the ad as "BEkaar".
